One of my New Years Resolutions from 2009 was to create a 5 min standup routine and perform it. Well I finally created one. I haven’t actually performed it in person. But I recorded it and am uploading for you all to view. Kind of like a performance? Truth be told… I know it still needs some work at the beginning and end. If you have some CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM – would love to hear it.

Guys- want to make your girl swoon? Take note.

So this past week I came down with a cold. And you know it’s the cold season, weather’s changing and all. And I guess that means it’s a contributing factor to people getting sick or whatever. Well regardless it caused me to miss a camping trip. That was a major bummer. So a couple people remarked… “Nicole it seems like you are always getting sick.” And of course my defense was, “No I’m not. I think the last time I was sick was maybe like 6 months ago or maybe a year ago.” Because I don’t remember being sick, ya know? So if I don’t remember being sick, than clearly I don’t get sick very often.

Well I was looking over some notes I wrote a couple months back that I had posted on facebook. It was one of those quiz things that you tag and repost. Anyway one of the questions was like what are you about to do next and my answer was “cough, I’m sick.” So I realized yeah, great I guess everyone is right, I am always sick.

Another note, lately I’ve been really stressed and confused about finances and jobs and things that most people are worried and confused about. I have a job but its moving and so I’ve been confused about can I afford to move or commute and what do I do? That sort of thing, ya know? Just toiling over this whole predicament and how to talk to my boss about it and just searching for clarity and answers in this confusing state of my life. Well than again in this note I wrote a few months back one of my answers said something like “seeking answers because I am confused.”

Seriously.. how predicable is my life? It’s like this rolling pattern of sickness followed by a wave of confusion. Awesome.

Some of you may know that I have been taking an acting class for the past four months or so now. It’s actually been going really well. My improvement started pretty slow, but the last few classes have been great as both me and my teacher have noticed a huge improvement since the beginning. One of my major problems was that I had a hard time really opening up. But last week I really felt comfortable letting my guard down and it felt great.

On a side note. I’m sad. A couple really close friends moved away. I’m super excited for them, but just sad that I can’t see or talk to them as easily as before. My friend Sarah just left to Scotland for grad school and will be gone for the next year. My friend Briell just moved to Bakersfield for nursing school and will be living there for at least the next two years.

Of course I still have many great friends who live right around the corner from me, including Jessica who just came home from being overseas for almost a year. But I still feel sad because I miss my friends who left.

And what is ironic is that I work so much, I barely have time to spend with the friends around me.

I have a joke for you…
Why do chicken coups only have two doors?? Anyone?

Because if it had four doors, it would be a chicken sedan! Aha!

Notes about the video:
In this video sketch I am acting. Although my friends know I am weird, I am not this weird. Well not usually. I wanted to see if I could portray someone who was really out of it… I know when I get really tired my behavior becomes really silly and often times people ask if I’m drunk (even though I’ve never been)… so I tried to work off of that extreme exhaustion feeling. Maybe it worked…? Let me know your thoughts.

Anyway… some other notes… usually it can take me like 7 or more times to film one of my videos, but this sketch I only filmed twice. I just ended up cutting it up for pacing.

So remember how I told you the other day that I was slow dancing with a friend of mine? I know some of you were really curious as to who would actually want to slow dance with me. And if you weren’t than you probably thought that I just made up that entire story. Well for your information: 1) a very attractive man did indeed want to slow dance with me and 2) I did not make that story up. In fact, I have a picture of proof. See below.

I feel like I have neglected my awkward site. I’m sorry blog Forgive me? Thank you! (It forgave me by the way) Hopefully you will too. There isn’t much to report on my end. I did have two auditions recently. One I wasn’t too excited about, but it was definitely fun going to and learning from it and the other was awesome and I hope I get it… but there was literally like hundreds of girls up for the same role. So who knows. But I’m really glad I tried.

On another random note that has nothing to do with anything comical, last night I was hanging out with my friend and then somehow we started slow dancing. Well actually that’s not entirely true. It really came about because we were listening to music for a bit and then we were trying to figure out what to do next and he’s like “want to watch a movie” and I’m like “actually I have I better idea, we should slow dance!” and he’s like “really?! ::gulp::.” So we did and as we were dancing I was like… whoa flash back to 8th grade promotion. It then reminded me of how I used to be terrified of boys and I would run and hide in the bathroom during school dances so the boys wouldn’t dance with me. Ahh. Those were the days.

So a few months back I was cast in a short film for the Art Institute. Really cute project. Not sure how well my acting was… but the DP is amazing and he made me look great. Check out his reel by clicking the link… there are a few clips from the film!!
